Biography
Winston Matt’s musical path began early, grounded in classical piano training from the age of five. This classical foundation shaped his technical abilities and musical intuition. As his artistic vision grew, he pursued jazz studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig (HMT Leipzig), where he specialized in jazz arrangement, improvisation for electric bass, and Tonsatz (harmony and counterpoint).
Winston’s development was guided by respected jazz professors Alfred Kallfass and Pepe Berns, whose influence helped him master the interplay of rhythm, harmony, and improvisation.
At the age of 20, Winston took his first steps into music production as a self-taught artist, driven by a deep curiosity for electronic sound design. Over the past few years, he has refined his production craft under the mentorship of Torsten Stolberg (SAE Leipzig), working extensively in a hardware-based studio environment. This hands-on mentorship strengthened his approach to analog gear, signal flow, and professional studio techniques.
Beyond jazz and electronic music, Winston has also made his mark in rock. He co-founded the alternative rock band Sonic Strangers and later joined I Come from the Sun, a hard rock band where he became a driving force—organizing finances and supporting key stages of the band’s development.
Today, Winston fuses his diverse musical background—classical, jazz, rock, and electronic—into a distinct artistic voice. Influenced by Boris Brejcha, his productions blend melodic complexity and rhythmic drive, balancing digital precision with analog texture in a sound that is uniquely his.
